“There has not been a youth comp for a while so today was a refreshing change when we held the Northumberland Youth Festival of darts at Bedlington Station Club. There were 10 entries in the U13’s, 15 in the U18,s and 21 in the U25’s. Entries were made up of local lads, Tyne and Wear , Durham and Cleveland youth.
The U13 competition was won by Blyth youngster Ryan Branley, beating Bedlington’s Andrew Dodds 3-1. The U18 final was won by our own Jack Male beating the in form Durham youth Joe Weldon, 4-2 in a competitive final. Jack Male was also the winner of the U25 event, beating Clevelands Jordan Mathews 5-3.
The 4 girls had a mini comp which was won by Natasha Kennedy, beating Iyla Leightley in the final, both girls beating Lesley Anne Harrison and Lauren Stokoe In the semi’s.
Thanks to all the players and parents for making the inaugural event such a success and hopefully this can become an annual event. Thank you to the club for giving us the use of the premises trusting us in getting the players and family there. The free food provided by the club was a gesture appreciated by everyone.
Thanks to all the family members/players who marked for the youngsters (Gav Kennedy especially), Chris Dobey for running the U25 competition, it is good to see that one of the local PDC players giving up some of his time to support the development of youngsters. Thank for the generosity of all the people there to boost the funds of Tyne and Wear Youth.
looking forward to the next one.”
