Over the past few months, 80+ people have competed to be crowned the Consett Masters Champion. This new tournament included an FA Cup style draw every round and was based on set play. Each player named a home venue and had to arrange the game against their opponent in a 2-3 week timescale for each round.
Players far and wide entered the tournament, that concluded on Saturday 29th April at the Grove & Moorside Club in Consett, who generously added £500 to the final prize pot.
7 players battled through the rounds and made the final (8th player had to drop out due to other commitments).
The final came down to two great players in Alan Bell & Phil Borthwick, with Alan coming out on top and claiming the win with a set 4 sets to 1 deficit.
