Tate takes the title!

After knocking on the door in many tournaments over the past few months, Northumberland player Simon Tate went all the way on Saturday and was crowned Blyth Comrades Open Champion of 2017.

With a fantastic field of 66 entries, with a host of County players on show, Simon was on top form all day and deserved the win. In the last 16, Simon Tate defeated Gavin Kennedy 3-1 before clinching a last leg decider against Tony Wood winning 5-4 and setting up a Semi Final against Gordon Dobey.

He edged out Gordon 5-3 to book himself in the final against Northumberland County A player, Roger Brown.

Both Roger and Simon are playing some great darts at the moment and went right down to the wire once again in the best of 11 match. With the match tied at 5-5, Simon hit the winning double to take the title and his first competition win of 2017.
