Teesside favourite and BDO World Champion Glen Durrant has gone one better than 2016 and was crowned Welsh Open Men’s Singles Champion of 2017 on Sunday evening.

After finishing runner up to Scott Mitchell in the 2016 tournament, Glen made sure he went all the way this time to take the number one spot.

He defeated Scott Waites in the final by 6 legs to 4 averaging 31.27.

The world champion took out 70 in 3 darts to secure the win and take home the £5,000 first prize.

We also had 3 other North East players make the last 32 with Gary Robson bowing out in the last 16. David Dodds and David Stokell also ended up in the money finishing off in the last 32.
