Come on the North East lads

The PDC World Championships kicked off on Friday with 96 names in the hat competing for a staggering £500,000 first prize.

We have four North East lads in action, with two making their debuts. Tonight sees Bedlington ace Callan Rydz take to the stage against the Irishman, Steve Lennon.

Rydz goes into tonight’s game full of confidence after securing a two year PDC tour card via the PDC Challenge Tour. We have seen him perform against the elite this year taking some big scalps on the floor, now he takes to the biggest stage of all to show everyone what he can do.

The other debutant, is none other than 3x BDO World Champion, Glen Durrant. Glen has been the stand out performer in his debut year and already broke into the top 32 with a whopping £176,500 on his order of merit.

Duzza faces a tough second round test on Saturday evening against either Jose Sousa of Portugal or Australia’s, Damon Heta.

Joining Rydz and Durrant at Ally Pally, are the two Geordie lads, Chris Dobey and Ryan Joyce. Both lads had a fantastic World’s last year, with Dobey reaching the last 16 and Joyce making the quarters.

Watch all games live on Sky Sports kicking off tonight with Callan Rydz.
